Antonio Gravina was born in Italy in 1934. He began to paint at the age of 15 and has developed his artistry with remarkable results. His compositions, chromatic range and technical detail have earned the admiration of serious art connoisseurs throughout the world.
Gravina’s masterful depiction of fantasy instantly draws his viewers into his works. His seascapes are renowned throughout the world: quiet bays bathed in sunlight, fishermen carefully mending their nets, the transparent emerald sea reflecting the clear sky; or his paintings of the stormy seas, portrayed with vivid, essential, sharp strokes, with heavy grey clouds warning of an imminent storm.
Unforgettable too, his restful springtime parks or his characteristically colorful Parisian bistro customers discussing the day’s events. His sunny cottage scenes, with their warm soft colors, reminiscent of the detached lives of the country folk are highly sought after.
Gravina’s paintings bring to mind the masterpieces of the great eighteenth century artists. He has dedicated himself to painting, which for him, is life and love and his total dedication is rewarded by enthusiastic response from both the critics and the public. Gravina’s works have been exhibited on all the continents of the world. His one man shows are typically complete sell outs.
In 1988, Gravina was chosen by a special commission for the furnishing of His Excellency Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz’s new palace in Saudi Arabia. ...
